November would
be another busy month on recruitment
as Salems ex-Sync running buddy
Sickbag would sign on the dotted
line and the roster continued
to swell as Big & Meaty donned
the Mama tag. The multimedia extravaganza
that was the rebuilt and refurbished
Mama website blinded its first
customer in this month and Mama
signed up for the second season
of Wireplay beginning 2 years
of domination of the 6v6 League.
The team would round off an active
month by taking on The Krays for
their first match of the new second
season of Wireplay action beginning
an undefeated streak that would
run a good number of weeks.
The beginning of December would
see Mama fail in their final attempt
to topple OG in what was as close
a match as the first outing. Unfortunately
OG would hang up their fedoras
shortly after the match as a result
of mounting bitterness from the
general community and a desire
to move onto pastures greener.
The team would continue to rip
through the Wireplay competition
by felling BR, AKA and stomping
a mud hole in R. An old SiN buddy
of Mamas would also break under
peer pressure this month and finally
join the clan, at this point the
often controversial Mama|Trebordraw
was born. Ttocssnave would put
in his first appearance of many
with the clan under the first
of his many aliases and JonnyPop
also picked up his first cap as
a member of the team.
January brought encounters with
2 fairly new clans who would eventually
become long term and occasionally
bitter rivals. UW handed Mama
their first black eye of the Wireplay
6v6 league season but they were
unable to close the deal and despite
losing a battle Mama managed to
win the war. R, CKK also fell
foul of the Mama division 2 rampage.
CGF took the first of a number
of beatings Mama would deal them
over the years in a friendly match
that would see a new Mama prospect
trailed. Slarti was welcomed into
the fold as a result of his fine
performance in the CGF encounter.
The German Elite Force (GeF) decided
that they would attempt to claim
some British soil so Mama rolled
out their very own Dads Army in
the form of Treb and the boys,
our Allied Forces (Stinger(US))
also joined in for a spot of Teutonic
ass whooping. Mama would also
see the last remnants of their
SiN past swept away as SexyMama
packed his bags and headed off
for pastures greener.
With the season 2 division 2 title
tucked firmly under their belt
Mama got their first time out
over February and not being one
to rest Jak-L would put his negotiation
hat on and score himself a 6v6
league to run. After a couple
of weeks with their feet up, they
were rested and ready to seize
the division one title. The season
started with a bang and a whimper
as they brushed MOD aside but
unfortunately their match with
XPD was a bust due to server problems.
Mama swelled fit to burst in March.
Roobubba, R*B, Saint, -9 and a
remixed Ttocs (under the alias
of Blade) all began to don the
Mama short handle and appear on
the WP match servers. NBK stepped
up to the plate in the 3rd match
of the season giving the team
a bit of a bloody nose, however
the fellas squeaked through with
a mighty frag difference of 1
to claim the match. Kray, Spam
and CGF offered less resistance
and Mama ended the first month
of the new season 7 games up and
only 1 game down.
Aprils crop of new players included
Framer and Thinpin. The latter
of the duo would cause more than
a little controversy dropping
his previous clan UW to join Mama
a couple days before Mama were
due to play UW in a move that
would now be compared to the theoretical
situation of David Beckham saying
that he is German a week before
a England vs. Germany match. Of
course Thinpin played a large
part in the match, but rather
than be bitter UW wished their
former player good luck for the
future (yea, right they did).
Mama were finally handed the 6v6
Division 1 title after disposing
of BR, K and the default of XPD.
The celebrations went on for nearly
15mins before the battle plans
were being drawn for season 3.
On the OGL front Mama seized the
second place spot in a match with
Crime in what turned out to be
a fantastic bit of timing by Jak-L
on the match booking front. The
celebrations were almost cut short
as STC attempted to levy the newly
acquired position, thankfully
the Mama team were true to form
and chalked up another in the
win column.
Mama took May as their official
holiday. The only noteworthy event
was the short-lived retirement
of Treb.
Onya and Corwin progressed from
the minor leagues into the hallowed
halls of Mamadom in June.
